Four Key Points Help You Pass PMP Exam

You may feel pain in for preparing PMP certification exam. I had to squeeze time to remember the difficult points of the exam. Fortunately, Mr Pan of Shanghai Jiao Tong University made a detailed study plan for me, which gave me great help.

I want to share my experience with you about PMP exam prep, hoping it can serve as a reference for you.

  1. To Deconstruct the Knowledge Structure of PMBOK and Make Conclusions.

PMBOK is compiled according to the ITO sequence of 10 major process groups and 47 processes. Each knowledge is not introduced very deeply. After reading the whole book, you can deconstruct the content and study.

Many ITOs are interconnected. For each ITO, consider that why an output exists and what inputs does it need, how to transform input into output by using which tool firstly. Based on these considerations, you can connect each chapter.

You should learn to make conclusions on the knowledge of PMBOK. You should not only be able to memorize by process but by knowledge domains so as to remember the 47 processes in your mind like weaving a net.

Besides, for some important exam points like graphics of quality management, contracts of procurement management, measures against risks of risk management as well as earned value management. These key points should all be summarized and stored in your mobile phones in the form of pictures so that you can review them at any time convenient to you. Pictures can leave a deeper impression on minds, particularly the well-summarized graphics which can link with a mass of knowledge.

  1. Select a Right Ancillary Textbooks and Problem Set.

PMBOK mainly focuses on a structure without detailed information. Some parts are very elusive. Therefore, you should follow the explanation of teachers and read handouts more. The extra notes I read are those interpreting PMP exam questions by Mr Pan, which refine and sublimate the knowledge of each chapter.

  1. Understand and Master PMI Concepts

What PMBOK illustrates is the generally recognized methods of project management. While preparing, you need to deepen understanding of and extract PMP concepts. You should put yourselves on the position of project managers meeting the qualifications of PMI to consider questions. For instance, you should analyse and solve problems first instead of accusing who is responsible. When encountering the situation that members have inadequate capabilities, you should prioritize training them. These are significant concepts all through ten major knowledge domains of PMBOK. Handling the knowledge well is helpful to pass the exam.

  1. On Exam Preparation

Personally speaking, every two-hour high-efficient learning a day lasting for two months enables you to pass PMP exam. You can attend the training institution SPOTO whose teachers provide study schedule and problem sets to you. What you need to do is to follow the timetable strictly. You can get a pretty nice result.

The exam time is four hours. There are about 200 questions of which some are pretty long. Though I could finish 200 questions in the simulated exam. When it comes to the real exam, filling in the answer sheet may waste you much time, so you should arrange time for this step reasonably. When answering questions, circle the questions stem and recall relevant knowledge to analyse questions.

How hard is the PMP exam? In fact, PMP certification exam is not as difficult as you think. With patience and reasonable allocation of time, you can find it easy to learn assorted project managements, at least not that baffling. You can take SPOTO courses to learn PMP.
